It is all too common for women to wear the wrong bra size (some people think it is around 80% of women and girls!), and especially so for teenagers and teens, who are not used to wearing underwear. Wearing the wrong bra size can cause headaches, backache and cause chest pain and breathing problems, so be sure to get your bra size right!

Wearing a correctly fitted bra can improve your body shape, creating natural looking fitting and curves, but bad fitting bras can make you look shapeless, damage confidence and create bad posture which can be really bad in the long run. Your breasts will change shape and may grow over time, so be sure to measure them on a regular basis if you feel uncomfortable with the bra you are wearing.

We've put some tips together at Sugaplum Shop to help you to know if you are wearing the wrong bra size for your body.

  • The bra band is too tight. The band size is too small. Increase this size – but not the cup.
  • The bra band rides up. The band size is too large; go down a size possibly even two.
  • The straps slip off the shoulders. You need a bra with wider straps which will sit more comfortably.
  • Your breasts are bulging out at the top or sides of the cup. The cup size is too small, so try going up a size.
  • The material on the cups is wrinkly, especially top and sides. The cup size is too large, so try dropping from B to A, for example.
  • The underwire pinches you in the chest or digs in under the arms. The cup size is too small; try increasing a size.
